The upgraded Gibralter. The Starbase itself now sits in the middle connected to both the Fleet and Marine HQ bases on either side of it. 6 drydocks have also been added For R&D, Upgrades, Repair, and Construction. Each HQ base is connected to the Gibralter by three Walkways. These walkways are 6 decks each and are refered to as (from top to bottom) The Upper Walkway also referred to as Brass Street since only Flag officer and their staffs are allowed to use this walkway. Then there's the middle walk or Mid Way open to all. Finally there is the lower walkway or R&D Row named because of the 6 dry dock facilities that hang underneath it (3 on the Marine side and 3 on the Fleet side) this walkway is highly restricted and no civilian personnel are permitted here.

Diagnostics and Diagnostic Levels
All key operating systems and subsystems aboard the ship have a number of preprogrammed diagnostic software and procedures for use when actual or potential malfunctions are experienced. These various diagnostic protocols are generally classified into five different levels, each offering a different degree of crew verification of automated tests. Which type of diagnostic is used in a given situation will generally depend upon the criticality of a situation, and upon the amount of time available for the test procedures.

Habitat Areas
The Habitat Areas of StarBase Gibralter refers to the two sections of the base which house permanent and temporary residents of the base, including civilians and StarFleet personnel.

Commercial Sector
Federation starbases are not just a place for Federation personnel. They are cities, floating in space, with civilians living there that have nothing to do with the Federation. Some are permanent "Non-Citizen Residents." NCRs are often citizens of a non-aligned world that have come to live on Federation starbases. Then there are other NCRs that have been granted political asylum from persecution on their home worlds. The Federation is very sensitive to the plight of those groups being discriminated against. Any such person who stands on a Federation starbase may call out for asylum. After doing to, they may stay until their hearing.
