Dakota was raised with none of the advantages of space travel. She knows what it is like to live off the land. She will not back down from what she believes is fair or right. She also has a knack for picking up languages

She tries to see the good in everyone, at times giving another chance when it is apparent there is nothing left to redeem about the person.

Dakota was born on March 31, 2350 in the Mountains of South Dakota. Her parents lived among a small tribe of Aztecs who did not believe in progress. Her parents had been disillusioned by space travel and chose to raise their children away from any contact with the outside world.

Dakota was an inquisitive child, always dreaming of what was out there, further than the boundaries her parents had put on her life. She was always getting in trouble and being punished for pushing the rules and bending them to suit herself.

Dakota was seventeen when she saw something strange flying in the sky. It soon landed near the village she lived in and the young Aztec had her first experience with life outside her family. She spent several days watching the group of scientists as they studied the area. It was by accident that she came face to face with one of the strangers and quickly became friends with her. The young Aztec begged for a ride in their flying machine and it was love at first flight. She now knew there was more out there for her than living here.  

She went back to her village and told her parents she wanted to experience the outside world, needing to seek her own destiny. Her father was adamant that she would remain among her people. He forbid her to go near the scientists and restricted her to their village. A few nights later, Dakota snuck out of her teepee and headed to where the scientists had been. She begged them to take her with them.

Dakota attended Starfleet Academy where she excelled in flight school and languages. She was offered many positions as a language specialist but the young woman signed on first as a fighter pilot and then worked her way to helmsman, eventually she moved over to language specialist and eventually on to Starfleet headquarters, where she became an Admiral.

Dakota eventually returned to the land of her people, to find no trace of their existence. It was as if they had never existed. She brought in several teams to help determine what had happened to them and to this day it is still a mystery as to what happened to her parents and her brothers and sisters
